Haha! Genius! Especially the gratuitous comedy guards who aren't actually funny... possibly the best part of the book ;-)
Kyra at 12:39 on 2008-01-08
Thank you. Now if only for that pesky ability to actually be able to draw... Actually by the end of the book I was so cheesed off with all the wandering, raping and transparent intriguing I actually *liked* the uncomedy comedy guards.

Take a look, academic blogosphere: THIS IS THE FUTURE OF ONLINE LITERARY CRITICISM.

OR AT LEAST IT SHOULD BE.
Kyra at 22:49 on 2010-10-07
I think academia in general would benefit from moar pictures!

Really, all book reviews should be translated this way.

I have a sudden desire to do this for Boneshaker
Kyra at 00:57 on 2011-07-24
The best thing I find to do with desires is give in to them...

Can we have more of these on Ferretbrain? These are fantastic.

Michal: I gave in.

Nice. One question, though, as the illustrations are a bit difficult to follow. Is that
the Irish woman with the cyber-arm
who saves them in the end?

I concur. I wonder if there're any books I've read recently which would fit. I feel like maybe there are ...

Yes, and totally awesome dude and other characters who I forget.

I'd be willing to do more of this sort of thing, this one was fun. The problem is that I usually don't finish books I don't like. Boneshaker was a rare exception, and it was just sort of "meh" rather than outright bad, and there wasn't anything actually offensive about it other than being a giant adventure with zombies and airships that still managed to be really, really boring.
Cammalot at 06:35 on 2011-07-27
Oh, Michal... I think I can no longer be your sockpuppet. I am very sad about this.

I liked Boneshaker.

I didn't love it, but I found the setting interesting, and liked the matronly heroine, and the zombies neither made me want to vomit nor kept me awake for six days, which I enjoy in my zombies.

(By the way, I hate zombies. Or, I should say, shambling, bitey, infectious, world-plague, "what's the point let's just declare suicide and nuke the planet," I don't know what lore they actually came from, Hollywood zombies. Deep down my prejudice is that all zombie literature should be left to Nalo Hopkinson...)

(We will be buddies, but I can no longer in good faith impersonate you at children’s parties. I’m sorry. I will return the wigs.)
Kyra at 20:19 on 2011-07-27
What about the rest of us? Do we have to return our Michal wigs? Mine, of course, is just for recreational use.
Alasdair Czyrnyj at 21:17 on 2011-07-27
Wait, you guys got wigs?

Oooooooh I'm in so much trouble.

On an unrelated note, I'm going to be taking an extended business trip to that country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with Canada. And if anyone hears any stories about a whole mess of bodies being found in some guy's septic tank, they were totally there when I moved in.
Cammalot at 22:24 on 2011-07-27
That went to a dark place.

I, on the other hand, have kept Michal’s wigs pure and crime-free. *prim*
Michal at 01:54 on 2011-07-28
I am...equally amused and bemused right now.

What about the rest of us? Do we have to return our Michal wigs? Mine, of course, is just for recreational use.

I'm rather loath to demand return of said wigs. After all, I have such fabulous hair.

Wait, you guys got wigs?

Sure, it came with the membership. You DID fill in both sides of the form, right?

I'm pretty sure that's 'shopped. I can tell by the pixels. Plus, I've seen a few 'shops in my day. ;-)

I think I did. The form WAS written on a roll of butcher paper in a sort of archaic English that was notarized by this weird bloke without a face, right?
